The main professional educational program 08.04.01 / 33.06 “Water supply and sanitation of cities and industrial enterprises” is implemented at the Department of “Water Management and Water Technologies” and is aimed at training masters who are able to organize the activities of design, production, scientific units for the sustainable development of urban water management and industrial enterprises.The program focuses graduates on active participation and initiative in the breakthrough development of water supply and sanitation systems, on the development of new technology, the introduction of new and best available technologies, and a change in the culture of production.At the same time, the program involves fundamental training in the natural sciences and general engineering disciplines sufficient to continue studies in graduate school. Much attention is paid to the in-depth study of the physicochemical laws and processes of obtaining drinking water from surface and underground sources, the treatment of domestic and industrial wastewater from cities and industrial enterprises, the technologies for the disinfection of treated water and the disposal of precipitation. The issues of monitoring the quality of water bodies, modeling and optimization of technological processes for water treatment, environmental impact assessment of wastewater treatment plants and sludge treatment, integrated water resources management in the territories are deeply studied. In this regard, the program has not only an engineering and technological, but also an environmental focus.A feature of the program is the expressed practical - orientation of the learning process. The training program for masters includes the design of engineering systems of water supply and sanitation of buildings with high floors, water supply and distribution systems of settlements, closed water systems of industrial enterprises, the study of reconstruction of networks and structures of water management. Much attention is paid to the principles and features of management at the enterprises of water supply and sewage systems.The priority of active teaching methods, as well as the inclusion of interdisciplinary projects in the program, ensures that undergraduates, along with professional competencies, develop a conscious ability to work in a team and the necessary leadership qualities.Graduates can carry out professional activities in design, construction, manufacturing, research and development organizations, housing and communal services management companies, industrial and communal enterprises, and in municipal and state administration bodies, as well as continue their studies in graduate school.When designing the educational program and implementing the training, the best world practices of training specialists in the field of engineering and technology, advanced domestic experience and own developments of UrFU were used.
